  • Prestigious award presented to Bentley’s first diesel
  • Road-testers conclude Bentayga Diesel is “the consummate, complete, luxury SUV

(Crewe, 24 May 2017) The Bentley Bentayga Diesel has received the Star Award at the 2017 Autocar Awards, an accolade which celebrates the cars that have managed to achieve a five-star rating during the publication’s rigorous road test.

Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO for Bentley Motors, comments: “The Bentayga Diesel embodies the finest craftsmanship and detail, while also demonstrating immense power and presence. Only Bentley can build a car this way, and this award is a testament to our talented and dedicated workforce in Crewe.”

Autocar praised the engineering of the Bentayga Diesel, with particular reference to its torque as “effortless low-rev thrust” and highlighting the quality of its interior which “no other car maker could hope to match”.

The Bentayga Diesel was also applauded for its diesel refinement, improved ride, grand touring capabilities and the exquisite Bentley-brand cabin opulence.

Matt Saunders, chief tester at Autocar, commented “This car rises head and shoulders above any other in fulfilling the role of the consummate, complete, luxury SUV. And in five years, when there may be rivals… we won’t be surprised if it still does.”

The Autocar ‘Star’ honour is now the 14th award given to the Bentley Bentayga since its launch in 2016, in recognition of its segment-defining attributes such as unparalleled luxury, innovative technology and effortless performance.
