2017 Continental Supersports – DA17 UWR

The Supersports badge has a long tradition behind it as Bentley’s most extreme performance version. First used in 1925 for the 3 Litre Supersports, it was revived in 2009 for the first-generation Continental Supersports. In 2017 it reappeared as the ultimate performance version of the second-generation Continental GT. Just 710 examples were built in celebration of its 710PS power output.

Competition Inspired

The 2017 Continental Supersports drew some of its technology and inspiration from the GT3-R, itself a roadgoing version of the Team Bentley racing GT3. Unlike these two models, it was powered by a 6.0-litre W12 and not the 4.0-litre Bentley V8. The Supersports made its public debut in 2017 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed when five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell took the wheel for the fabled hillclimb.

Taken to the limit

The Continental Supersports was powered by a W12 Bentley engine developing 710 PS (522 kW; 700 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 1,017 Nm of torque at 2,050–4,500 rpm. The ZF 8-speed automatic featured Quickshift, Block Shifting and a wheel-mounted paddleshift. Brakes were carbon silicon carbide discs with enhanced cooling, 420 mm (17 in) front and 356 mm (14 in) rear. Other performance focused features included 21-inch forged alloy wheels, an optional titanium exhaust system, an updated torque vectoring system, and a lowered and stiffened dynamic suspension set-up. The benchmark 0-62 mph acceleration time took just 3.4 seconds and top speed was 209 mph.

Visually Distinctive

Model-specific features included new front and rear bumper designs incorporating a carbon-fibre splitter and diffuser respectively. Bonnet vents and side sill extensions were in carbon fibre, with front wing vents and rifled exhaust tailpipes in gloss black. The interior offered owners the option of a new tri-tone colour split, while the Alcantara and hide upholstery showcased a new diamond-quilted design for seats and door side panels. Among the options were chequered Supersports carbon-fibre fascia panels.

The Heritage Collection Continental Supersports

The Continental Supersports in the Collection is finished in Glacier White with an interior in Beluga hide. Emblem and contrast stitching is in white.
