2019 flying spur – df69 eux

From the launch of the first generation Flying Spur in 2005, the car defined the ultimate performance luxury – capable of carrying four or five passengers in exquisite comfort at speeds exceeding 200 mph. The third generation Flying Spur, launched in 2019, was a quantum leap forward for the model, introducing a newly developed W12 engine from the Bentayga, a new body structure and a new chassis system. A bolder, sharper exterior design gave the car even more presence, and the interior was another example of peerless craftsmanship and attention to detail. It was hailed as ‘the best luxury sedan in the world’.

The Mighty W12

At launch, the new Bentley flagship was only available with an updated, twin-turbocharged W12 TSI engine that set a new benchmark in performance, agility and dynamism. The most advanced 12-cylinder engine in the world, the W12 produces 635 PS (626 bhp) and 900 Nm (664 lb.ft) of torque, accelerating the car to 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds (100 km/h in 3.8 seconds), and on to a top speed of 207mph (333 km/h).

The Most Agile Bentley Sedan Ever

The third generation Flying Spur employed a wealth of technology to deliver driving dynamics not seen before on a four-door Bentley. A twin-clutch transmission provided smooth and refined acceleration, quicker gearshifts and improved fuel economy. Active all-wheel drive, varying the torque split between front and rear axles, gave prodigious grip in any situation and a much sharper front end. Torque vectoring by brake managed torque across each axle to individual wheels. Electronic all-wheel steering enhanced both stability at highway speeds and manoeuvrability around town, and three-chamber air springs contained 60 per cent more air volume compared to the second generation car, which allowed more scope to vary from sporting levels of spring stiffness to luxury limousine refinement depending upon which mode the driver selected.

The Bentley Dynamic Ride System is designed to improve both handling and ride comfort. A 48-volt system controls an electronic actuator unit which manages the stiffness of the anti-roll bar, changing the stiffness on demand to combat cornering forces and keep the Flying Spur level.

The Bentley Heritage Collection Flying Spur

The Collection’s example is the first production Flying Spur of the third generation. As such it is a First Edition, finished in Moroccan Blue with a Linen and Brunel interior complemented by Koa over Grand Black veneer.
