(Crewe, 18 March 2026) Bentley today introduces its pinnacle in-car audio system – Naim for Mulliner – across a dedicated series of cars built around it. The Virtuoso Collection is an exclusive series of cars featuring the Naim for Mulliner system combined with refined materials, unique embroidery, and Champagne Gold detailing inspired by high‑end musical craftsmanship. Originally created for the coachbuilt Batur, with an option cost of £25,000 (excluding taxes) the Naim for Mulliner system has now been developed for this collection to deliver Bentley’s most immersive audio experience to date.
Available across the Continental GT, Continental GTC and Bentayga, the Virtuoso Collection is offered in three curated themes – Soprano, Tenor and Bass – ranging from serene, light interiors to darker, more dramatic specifications with deep textures and rich tonal contrasts.
A new in-car audio zenith
With a partnership with Naim spanning over 15 years, and over 10,000 hours of innovation developments alone to produce the pinnacle ‘Naim for Mulliner’ for Batur, the logical next step was to share the learnings to create an audio system for the Virtuoso Collection.
The unique ‘Naim for Mulliner’ system for the Virtuoso Collection uses eighteen speakers, plus two upgraded drivers (originally developed for Batur), ensuring remarkable fidelity and enhanced frequency response, yet no loss of detail.
Working closely with Dolby Laboratories, music is brought to life through the integration of Dolby Atmos. With Dolby Atmos, sound moves freely in a multi-dimensional space with remarkable clarity and depth, delivering a truly immersive audio experience with clearly defined layers that place the listener inside the music.
With the enhanced hardware, Bentley’s audio engineers also used Fraunhofer Symphoria to develop the sound stage for each particular car. Fraunhofer Symphoria is a high-quality rendering technology for two and three-dimensional surround sound in cars. It significantly improves the audio quality perceived throughout the cabin and passengers are able to enjoy a realistic audio experience with a broad, clearly defined sound stage and perfectly balanced surround sound.
To maintain a pure listening environment, soft Dinamica inserts have been strategically placed within the door panels to absorb unwanted frequencies and vibrations, ensuring the cabin remains serene and acoustically optimised.
Even the bespoke ‘Naim for Mulliner’ speaker grilles have been revised to deliver a 26 per cent increase in the acoustic transparency, allowing sound to pass with minimal interruption.
The overall results in a richer, more immersive audio experience, crafted exclusively for Mulliner.
Bespoke hand wound speaker technology
The new speakers featured in the Naim for Mulliner system are derived from Focal’s Grand Utopia speakers, and for both mid-range and tweeters feature patented 'M' cones. The exclusive 'M'-profile made from a single piece (without a core cover) provides incredible rigidity and perfectly combines the three critical criteria for a speaker driver: rigidity, lightness and damping. This enables an extremely linear frequency response with a low distortion rate and better sound dispersion. This highly advanced cone delivers a breath-taking level of detail adding to the listening experience and captivating realism.
The new hand-wound Focal driver units feature an increased height of 15mm, providing 20 per cent more cone movement for greater articulation and a broader dynamic range.
The tweeter has been chosen to produce a silky treble – its distinctive wide-angle diffusion is beneficial for the 'off-axis' listening of in-car environments. Comprising an 'M'-profile aluminium / magnesium cone, it delivers flawless harmonic balance and impressive purity. The combined system produces a sound that is immersive, exhilarating, warm and powerful.
The midrange register is no doubt the most complicated to control in a sound system. On one hand, there must be a smooth transition with the bass, whereas on the other hand, it must be tuned with the tweeter in terms of dispersion and acceleration. This determines the homogeneity of the timbre and spatialisation.
Focal has concentrated on the frequency at which the cone becomes deformed, leading to distortion, and drastically reducing resonance from the tweeter. Through finite element analysis, simulation software has made it possible to visualise the dynamic behaviour of the suspension material that connects the cone and the basket, revealing the areas for performance improvements. Therefore, by tuning the weight and shape of the suspension material, the best possible speaker driver can then be manufactured.
Details inspired by music
The Champagne Gold detailing extends throughout the exterior and cabin, including Bentley exterior winged badges, exhaust tips, collection badges as well as a Champagne Gold edged car key. Entering the cabin, you are greeted with a bespoke Virtuoso welcome animation. The Champagne Gold Virtuoso treadplate displays the same style reflected in the unique speaker grilles found at the front of the door pad. Dinamica not only provides an alternative texture on the door pads and rear quarters, but aids sound absorption through the cabin, as do the thick Mulliner overmats. Inside, four key elements contribute to the bespoke nature of this immersive environment.
- Naim for Mulliner Audio system – Hand-wound, precision engineered speaker technology, tuned for greater frequency response and paired with Dolby Atmos for immersive audio experiences
- Exclusive Speaker Design – crafted for unparalleled sound clarity and aesthetic elegance
- Embroidery Inspired by Sound – exclusive radial design language, visually echoing rhythm and applied throughout the cabin
- Textiles for Superior Acoustics – Variation of textiles used in specific locations to enrich the auditory experience due to its enhanced sound absorbing properties
For all three curated themes, the finishing interior touch, is the Virtuoso design etched into the passenger facia, matching the treadplate.
Soprano, Tenor, Bass
The three design themes that customers can choose from are:
- Soprano: Linen and Gravity Grey hides, Portland Dinamica fabric and Open Pore Crown Cut Walnut veneer
- Tenor: Stratos and Brunel hides, Ceramic Glaze Dinamica fabric and Piano Gravity Grey veneer
- Bass: Gravity Grey and Beluga hides, Beluga Dinamica fabric and Open Pore Black Crown Cut Walnut veneer
Beyond these options, Mulliner co-creation is available for clients who would like to make their Virtuoso Collection car truly unique.
The Virtuoso Collection is available across the Continental GT and GTC, and Bentayga, with Flying Spur to follow later this year. Pricing is available on request.
